We would like to play a small part in making things easier for parents, carers and teachers by providing some free content to help you to talk to your children about what’s happening, to enjoy spending time together and to create some wonderful things to ride out ‘social distancing’ Yeti Style!

With this in mind, we’d like to launch ‘The Yeti Blanket Den Challenge’ where we’ll regularly post a new blanket den theme with ideas for creative play, resources to make and stories to share.

We’d love you to message us with any ‘blanket den’ related ideas you might have and share pictures of your creations. Lets help our wee ones see this time away from school as a positive experience, where they get to spend time having fun with their most important people rather than them being impacted by worry.

Watch out for new content unlocking, or follow us on Facebook for up-to-date notifications.

WHY BUILD BLANKET DENS?

Building a den can be therapeutic and relaxing as it helps children to switch off from everything else and be creative. Building a working structure gives them a sense of wellbeing and accomplishment as they are able to enjoy and utalise what they've made. Having their own small, secure place helps them to be more reflective and talk about how they feel in the current situation.

The creative opportunities offered by den building are limitless. Our plan is to offer ideas to spark your imagination, develop your children’s creativity and help you ‘educate’ your children in an enjoyable way.

CURRICULUM FOR EXCELLENCE

We’ve included information linked to Curriculum For Excellence ‘Experiences and Outcomes’. These show some of the learning opportunities offered by our activities - NOT what your child should be able to do through taking part.

These planning guides, used by teachers, are included on our site to reassure parents that creative, fun activities are important tools for learning.
